Doors Hung Today

We got our doors hung and the latches on today. I had to make the strikers out of angle iron but they look pretty good. It took a lot of drilling and grinding to get the angle down to look like a real stricker. Tomorrow, hopefully, we will get back on the cabinets inside.

Gage, we took the hatch off and put it in the storage shed because we work on the tear on cool days inside and we can't open the hatch inside. There isn't enough room in there to cuss a cat. Thanks for the compliment and encouragement. We are sooooo ready to go camping but the tear isn't quite ready yet.

Kirtsjc, we got them at an auto salvage yard. They are side windows from a damaged conversion van and for $35 each we couldn't pass that up. You do have to do a little modifying to make them work but it isn't too bad. You also get the trim frame with the windows and they have a sliding window with a screen also. If you decide to go this route, be sure to pick windows that are not curved. These have about 1/4 curve in them but we have that worked out so it will not be seen, and they won't leak, I hope.

How do your doors work? I notice the door handle attached to the body of the tear.

Thanks fellows, I am humbled, coming from you guys that is a real compliment.

Larry, I will take a few pictures today of the works of the doors and post them tonight. I used a SS paino hinge and will wrap the hinge with a bicycle intertube to water proof. The door being black, you will not notice the intertube. Even if there is no tube on you can not see the hinge unless you put your head against the tear. That is a regular house door knob/lock. I turned the barrel backwards and made the striker out of angle iron. I still have to do some dressing the striker area up but at least you will be able to see how we did it.
