Chassis Completed Today

I guess everyone got bored with my other thread, so I'll start a new one for my chassis. Today, I put on the last accessories it was done. I borrowed my boat trailer tag and hooked up the light bar I use with that trailer and went for a test run. Up to 70 it had no wiggles, sway, or vibration other than road bumps, which on a 2200 lb axle with only a couple hundred pounds on it, showed up good.

Here it is, and I have other pics on my Yahoo album. Yahoo Photos is having problems and I can't get to it to get the link, but will post it later.

I like the look of the Rustbullet, and will leave it that color. I also sprayed my coupler and jack stand with the Rustbullet, so it all matches.

No, Steve, I got a little more on my hands yesterday, but kept it off everywhere else...There will be silver under my fingernails and in the creases for several more days, I'm afraid. Besides, I've given up worrying about what my hands look like. I have more cuts, brusises, and splinters than I thought possible. And, my hair should grow back in a few weeks...at least to the quarter inch lengh that I like to keep it.

Thanks for the nice comments. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This wasn't a one person job. I had help from many of you on this forum, and without that help, I wouldn't have the chassis I have today. Thank you for all the help. In particular, I'd like to thank my mother for giving me life, my wife for tolerating me...Oh wait, that's my People's Choice Awards acceptance speech...Sorry.

Most people agree that there is not much weight savings on a small trailer like we use when compared to a steel frame, but the cost is a LOT more. Aluminum is also known to crack easiler than steel, not to mention it takes special equpment to weld it.

thanks for the info, I figure there had to be a reason for not seeing many aluminum frame trailers for TD. :)

I'm just masquerading as an old fart to get social security benefits. Actually, my 67 year old body was taken over by a 35 year old alien named Tourguey. He knows how to get things done!.

The floor is hiding most of it and you should see the underside of it now. Why didn't some warn me that putting in insluation was so messy??? I have dripped poly sealant all over the floor and rolled in it, dropped foam adhesive on my face and hair putting it in place (Hair? Sorry...on my bald head...but it is growing back slowly, thank you), and had to use my finger to smear sealant in places where the tube nozzle wouldn't go. I had to wash up with mineral spirits before I could come in the house to shower. And then, I had to undress on the back porch so I wouldn't stink up the house. Luckily, my bathroom is just inside the back door.

Well, there are only a couple of pieces left to do glue in tomorrow, and quite a lot of sealing around the edges. And, I think I'll find some flat head screws and washers and put them through the foam into the plywood to make sure it stays there.

And, why didn't someone warn me that it would take 3 times as much sealant and adhesive than I bought? Huh? What gives...someone ought to warn a guy!!!

But, what the hey...this is having fun..........isn't it? :?
