Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Has anyone considered this Duo-Therm A/C Unit? It uses the same cutout as a Fantastic Fan and therefore could be added after your build is complete and your hobby fund has been replenished. When I wire my Fantastic Fan, I will run a 110V wire so that I can add this in the future.

I've thought about it, like many others here... But cost seems to be the biggest factor against it.

Others don't like the way it appears...

But CocaCola did at least one that way... check the hall of fame...

...at 11,000BTU's it is 5 times the size needed and 5 times the cost of a cheap window shaker...it does however have a "cool" factor to consider...one of the truly great things about these little trailers is the fact that there are no "standards" for anything...you can doit anyway ya want ...make it yours.................

At 13k BTU's I think you'd wind up with a meat locker! I installed one of those in the forward people/storage section of a horse trailer once. It had about an 8' long x 7' wide x 6'6" high open area. The first test dropped the temp about 20* in right around 15 minutes and that was on a 90* day. I think you might have a hard time keeping it comfortable unless you could get a smaller one. Just seems like way overkill to me.
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, it would just be more feasable if they made a lower output unit, little cheaper wouldn't hurt either.

My work takes me to a lot of places with gaurd shacks. I saw that same unit on one yesterday. I'm keeping my eyes open for a cool idea for a TD. I tried taking a pic of one a while back at a secured area and I got hassled. I thought I was gonna end up in Guantanamo.

I looked at them but I didn't like how heavy they are, almost 100#. I was afraid it would upset my center of gravity to mount something that heavy so far above the deck.

have any of you camped in a relly well insulated tear in miserable hot weather without ac.i camped in a pop up last year at some bluegrass festivals in jul.&aug and there were just a few nites that were bad and we didnt have any fantastic fan or anything for that matter.i relly like ac buy 90% of my campin we be on 12v. just trying to justify the thing i guess.
i think i had acess to shore power maybe 5 or 6 days last year but it wasent in the summer!

they do make a 7,500 BTU unit. The cost is for some reason more than the 13,500 unit. The 7,500 is also lower profile and heat strips can be added. Although probabaly still overkill in the cooling department.
