Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Well I'm building a teardrop with out a metal frame, I'm just bolting the tongue onto the bottom. any ways I was wondering could I get away with just bolting it through the tongue to the bottom or should I weld backs on the bottom of the tongue and bolt that to the bottom. Which one do you think is better. MY welding skills arnt too good so thats somthing to consider as well. here is a picture I drew on paint to illustrate what I'm talking about.

So how thick is your floor going to be? More information is needed to answer your question. What your asking has been tried before but was dumped. But if I'm not mistaken, is being attempted again.

To me the point most likely to fail is where the bolts go through the wood floor.
All the starting and stoping while towing could enlarge the holes and make the body shift on the tongue The more bolts the better.
Maybe I would add glue between the tongue and floor.
Also I think you need some metal where the axle mounts to distrub the weight.

LP, at the very least, you should havea steel subframe to mount the axle to and then run your tongue piece back to that subframe, with the plates on top of the tongue piece and all other mounting points...remember that your front and rear bolts do all the real holding so 2 is better than one...all others are just in case the front and rear fail....if you are unsure of your welding skill, find someone who is a betteer weldor to do it
