On a stick build what studs of wood are you using for the "studs" plywood strips , hardwood, Pine?

If you can get 3/4" foam 1x2 and 1x3 work great as they match the foam thickness.

I get that, but that wasn't my question. What type of wood are people using for the 1x2,1x3's.

I used just plain white pine culled straight dried ones and worked great. Cedar is lighter and rot resistant but never used it myself.

On a stick build ...

I used 1 x 4's once. Joining was a lotta work.

21 joints x 2. If I recall, it took me three days to finish the two structures and have them ready to sheath.

There's a much quicker way to do it.

Using 8' plywood, you can make the wall as long as you want with spline joints.

I can crank two out two skeletons in an afternoon. The other advantage is they give you much more design flexibility.

I recommend using 5/4 clear pine found at the big box store and rip them down to actual 1x2" . I started with ripping plain pine 2x4 and found they are way to soft to get a good bite with a screw. The clear 5/4 is a bit more cost but worth it. My build is here https://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=74957&hilit=oraft
