These are the tail lights that inspired my paint design. They are off a 58-59 Rambler. I had to use them, the price was right, FREE.

This is the frame I am starting with. I just need to finish sanding & painting and I will start construction. I change the tongue to 2.5 x 2.5 x .120 square tube, extended it by 12" & welded in the Jack mount. I also cut the spindles out of the original "U" channel axle and welded & bolted the spindles into 1.5 x 1.5 x .188 square tube. I also widened the axle by 2" just in case I deside to change hub & wheels.

Just a word to the wise, don't try to drill thru axle spindles unless you have access to a machine shop. They are very hard :o

The jack is a HF $13.99 2000# special. It can swing away or be removed. The kind wth the wheel was 1" too long.

I have started stockpiling my electrical pieces. I plan on picking up lumber & wire this weekend. The MDO for the sides will have to wait a few weeks. $>

My guess is that Gauge is wondering how the jack will swing up with the A frame where it is. That's all I'm going to say.

It was placed with 2" to spare. I will most likely take it off while traveling. You just pull the pin.

I could not help it. I had to see what it will look like. It was almost dark when I took this. You gotta love Photoshop.

I will be moving the axle back next weekend, after I install my stablizer jacks.

Here is the design I think I am going with.

Image

It will be a 4 X 10 main body.

My estimate is 750-800lbs.

The tongue box will have 2 deep cycle batteries & 1 5 gallong propane tank.

The axel is 54" from the rear. That should give me about 12% tongue weight or 90lbs.

I did make some progress before the rain hit this weekend. I have the floor 50% done. I will post pictures when the rain stops & i can uncover it.
