I was looking thru some old posting and came across this picture.

Now for the dumb question of the week......... How do you install an offset hinge & get the roof line to match up?

The reason I ask is, I found a 3/8" offset hinge that looks like the "old style" pictured at a local canopy place that builds custom aluminum canopies. They use it on models that have double back doors. I can get 6' for $25. It has a 100# rating.

The hatch will be higher than the rest of the tear. It's built that way so as to allow for the seal on the hatch (or side rail). Where as with the newer verson you have to cut the sides down to allow for the seal and keep the hatch in the same plane as the roof.

Have aa good day.

That's what I was thinking. That is why I passed on it. I just wanted to make sure before I order my hurricane hinge.

My doors have offset hinges, you don't really notice the difference. It is just easier not to have to notch the sidewalls. I don't know who has the offset hinges. It seems that lately everybody is getting zero offset hinges.

I like the older version of the hurricane hinge...on the body portion, I just took the router and rabbeted out a portion of the back stringer that it sits down into...then lap the roof and skin over the flange....water can't get in there...by taking out the material on the body, it drops the galley portion down to the right height...and I also find the older hinge is a heavier extrusion...Doug
