Underfloor Storage

A mate and I are in the process of designing his offroad TD and are trying to figure how we can have about 9" underfloor storage and not compromise the bench height in the galley area. It needs to be about 7' long by about 14" wide to store his Oztent. He also wants to have a water tank under there. I've browsed through the design library and can't seem to find anything suitable. Any ideas?
Cheers

Paul,

Would it be feasible to put the TD on top of a box made for the Oztent, and storage compartments and drawers in the rest of the space. It would be a good place for a water tank, spare tires, build it high enough for cases of beer too. He might need folding steps to get inside though. The counter top in the galley could be normal height from the ground, and have more space above for storage.

Hi Paul,
I can never remember if it is day or night there.

Perhaps you can access from the front under the tongue. That should give you 7' and a couple for galley if you work it real careful.

Next idea is wood saddle bags under each side might be easier to get to. Mad Jack's water tank seems to work well in small spaces. Can put it in top of cabinetts too.

Gday or night!
Miriam

Paul, because you have the trailer frame to contend with, what you might consider is building a second floor in which the galley would also be built above it. And then access would be in the rear. You could also take a portion of that area and fab a water tank to place inside using some of the space. Do you have to have 9", can you have less if you have more width?

Have a good day.

Now I understand how that Oztent goes up so quickly.............It's already halfway there from the begining.................

Thanks for the responses to date.
Steve, that is how we have been thinking but we seem to run up against it when we get to cupboard and bench height in the galley.
Miriam, It's night over here(8:00pm Monday) as I write this. We are going to access from the front but above the tongue is the go because we need offroad clearance.
Gage, Thanks for that mate. That is right up there with Steve's suggestion.
From the looks of it we are covering the right bases with the way we are thinking. We will have to refine the galley area. My mate keeps coming up with a bench height of about 4' from the ground. I am trying to convince him to compromise on cupboard/storage area below his bench.

Thank you to all for your input at this stage.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Larwyn, I think I mentioned in another post about the problem with carting the Oztent around. Then again I sprouted about my steel cutter and you went out and bought one. I'd be careful if I was you.
