LED Bulbs To Replace 1003 & 1141 12v Blubs

I've searched quite a bit and can't find LED bulbs to replace my interior 12V bulbs #'s 1003 12V 15CP & 1141 12V bulb. Are these available and where? Danny

Keep in mind that most LEDs are very directional. If the bulb is not pointed in the specific direction you want, the light falls off very quickly as you move off to the side..... lots of motorcycle brakelights have tilted bulbs and the LED lights don't work well...

I'm very aware of the directional characteristics of LED bulbs. This is one of the reasons I want some. My wife reads in bed and it keeps me awake. She is using a led book light now and it doesn’t keep me awake so I want some for our tear. Danny

I'm not interested in replacing the 1141 bulb with LED bulbs, but I would like to replace it with another bulb with the same base that puts out more light. Does anyone know of a replacement bulb that is brighter than the 1141?

On a new build: Would it be better to buy LED fixtures to begin with, or to use standard fixtures and replace the bulbs?

Better, meaning work better?

Easier, meaning cheaper?

I just want the legal lights to tow at night. Since I am pulling with a small coupe, I don't have a lot of extra alternator capacity, and would rather limit my use than expand the supply.

Hi Dave, I've used all led's for tail lights, brake and indicators as well as for my "porch" lights. Inside I have used two halogen caravan lights. They all work well and the interior lights will take about a week to flatten my trailer battery with minimal use.
As for cheaper,npoe, they are much dearer to purchase than normal incandescent lights.

If you were building a new tear, would you buy LED fixtures, or use regular 12v fixtures and then LED bulbs?

It appears a bit cheaper to use "regular" 12v fixtures and change the bulbs to LED, but is it better?

Is that the right conclusion?

Hi Dave, My opinion is that the after market led bulbs are a bit of a con. They do not produce as much light as a dedicated led lamp. This is probably to do with the number of led's in the lamp versus the number in the bulb. That's why I fitted halogen lamps to the interior of my trailer. In saying that, I have seen where others on this board are quite happy with led's fitted inside their trailers.
