I'm looking for a 120-volt 15-20 amp inlet that would fit-up to the side of the T/D.

those power inlets can be had at Waytekwire.com for around 15 bucks and at Academy Sporting goods for around 10...

Bass pro shops price $12.99

I found one at a junk yard for $2.00.. It is the block heater plug in on Taurus and Sable. It is found under the grill. Mine came off a 1996 Sable.

I got the similar item at West Marine, Marinco Brand, for only twice the price, Bruce! 30 amp.

EVERYTHING is more expensive at the marine store, but for this, maybe there's a reason--it's built for heavy salt water exposure.

One caveat about the Marinco though which I posted before:

You can't go to a box store and get a similar connector for it from another company. Marinco "depths" the two parts to only work with each other.

I made one - looks very similar to the one above. Some PVC, JB Weld and your off and running

I went to Lowes and got a 30A twist lock. No problems.
Maybe you were trying a 20A in the 30A. A 20A sure won't fit

Most of those connectors pictured are 15 amp. The 30 amp connectors are harder to find and more expensive. To keep the cost down, and in keeping with KISS, I just put a cord hatch in the side of my tongue box, cut the socket off the cord, and hard wired my cord end into my main breaker box. I lost less than a food of cord length by doing this instead of using a connector. I left enough wire on the socket that I cut off so that I can put a 15 amp plug on it to use it for an adapter to connect to a 15 amp outlet if 30 amp isn't available.

I know someone is going to ask why I have expopsed wires in the box, so I'll explain before you do. The exposed wires you see running from the breaker box will be put through conduit from the breaker box to the converter in the galley before all is said and done. I just hooked them up temporarily to test the system. The cable running into the piece of PVC pipe in the lower left of the pic on the right goes to my running lights connector to the truck. the cable comes out of the cabin, into the PVC, then into metal conduit welded to the tongue where it comes out just under the coupler.
