I finished putting my t-molding & seal on my door & now it will not close....

Looks like you'll need to do one of 2 things, use the thinnest seal you can find or space your door out at the hinge.

Rainjer...there is a really small weatherstripping that is only 3/8" wide and I believe 5/16" uncompressed....I had to use it and space out the interior handle...after a while of being closed the stripping compressed and I could pull out some of the washers that I used for shims on the interior handle...I bought it at an RV supply place, but did see it at Home Depot the other day...black D shaped...it appears that you really have some thick material...just my thoughts...Doug

That is the first thing I am going to try. I am going to put a pice of L-extrusion behind it.

Rainjer...I'm guessing that you don't have any offset on the hinge between the body and door...the aluminum molding isn't giving you enough room for the seal....here's an idea...get a small strip of like 1/8" aluminum that you can install under the body side of the hinge, like Nitetimes suggests...that will bump out the door enough to give you some space to house the seal...done this also and it helped...any thick material at the hinge side, like weatherstripping will only make the gap at the latch side tougher to deal with...just an idea...Doug

Or, put a shim between the cam and the inside of the door.

That's exactly what I did.



It's hard to see because I ran a thin bead down the outside of my hinges. But, I've got a 1/8" thick piece of aluminum under the body side of my door hinges.

I did the same as Tom did and it works great!

Your doors look great, but need a little tweeking, just get a thinner weatherstrip, and shim out the hinge. Problem solved.
You may have to shim out the door latch also.
I think this is a pretty common problem, we have all delt with.

I closes now, but I am not happy with it.

I shimmed the hinge with a 1/8" X 3/4" aluminium flat stock. I also put another 1/8" thick wood shim behind the latch.





It just stick out too far for my liking. As you can see in the bottom picture, the seal had enough pressure on it to bend my metal.

I will go looking for some different seal tomorrow.

It looks like rain all weekend so I probably will not get much done.

Rain, that "sticking out" you are referring to is why we did ours so that the seal was on the inside, giving a close to flush outside apppearance....

If you check out McMaster Carr, and look for part number 93685K11 you'll find a foam rubber bulb seal. Your seal is 5/16", so the 3/16" difference might be good enough to not have to shim the hinge. I have also found this seal at Menards in the paint section. Don't know if HD carries it.
