Started My First Tiny Travel Trailer

I have started my first tiny travel trailer. It is going to be a modified "Weekender". The Harbor Freight HD trailer is together and the frame for the floor. I will try to post pictures. - No luck. Some one may have to give me pointers on how to post a picture.

I have also just started my first TD. I started out wanting to build a Generic Benroy but have changed my mind after going over all the information here. I have decided on the weekender because it looks like it would be much easier to prefab all the panels and then assemble them all at one time. It will be built on a 4 X 8 foot Harbor Freight trailer. I am thinking of making some changes to it though. The main change I am thinking of doing is making the hatch come just down to the edge of the back. Then I plan to make the back two pieces that are hinged on each side and open up like two doors. These two doors will have hinged counter tops mounted to the inside of them for added counter work space. I think I have just about worked out all the issues with sealing this all up but still need to work out a few details. Does anyone have any sugestions? I will post some pictures when I have something to show.

I have posted some more pictures of my work on the trailer. I have also painter the floor with oil based exterior primer, but no picture of that yet. I'm really looking forward to getting the sides done so it will start to look like a tiny travel trailer.

But I cannot help but ask, why do have your trailer chained to a "hitching post"..........????....... Mine has never tried to escape.........

Bob, being a TTT builder, I'm curious as to the design, especially one that will fit on a 4x8 chassis. Mine is on a 5x9 chassis. Do you have pics of your plans or profile to post?

I'll echo Dale, but a comment on your axle position:

It doesn't look like you moved it back, so aside from any towing issues, be careful on where you plan to put your door(s)--and remember that a fender is going on there too. Could really make entering and exiting a pain.

Ira, Remember, this is a TTT, not a TD. Door position all depends on the trailer design. My axle is located about 3"-4" behind the center cross member of the chassis, and the front edge of my door is only about 4"-5" from the front end of my chassis. The shape allows my galley cabinet to stick out front. Most of it is in front of the chassis.

But isn't a Weekender still a 4 by 8? He didn't move his axle at all--it's dead center.

Take another look at the the chassis in that album. The axle is located just about under the 3rd cross member, about 60%-65% of the way back on the frame, not centered. I have one of those trailers sitting in my back yard.

OK, maybe 55%-60%, but, it's still not centered. Most of the weight on a TD is a little forward of the center anyway. Like I said, it depends on the design and how the weight is distributed.
