T-molding

Hi,
I'm getting ready to start on the door. I have been looking at T-molding from a couple sources. (teardrop and vintage trailer parts, And Lil' bear)

I have a tight radius on the corners of the door, (see pics in album) And I'm not sure if I can make the bend.

Does it look like it is doable? And are there any other sourses that I might consider?

I've never tried bending T-molding, So any suggestions would be great.

...hard to tell but that looks mighty tight...a rubber mallet and a hardwood block will help out...as you pull on the molding, place the block against it and tap with the hammer...an extra pair of hands will do wonders here...if necessary...on the inside bend you can reduce the size of the (inside) leg by sanding/grinding/cutting some of it out...work the trim piece around very slowly...patience will pay off here grasshopppah...it shouldn't be necessary but you can re-anneal if needed...good luck

p.s. try very hard not to hammer directly on the trim piece...use that hardwood dolly between the hammer and the trim piece...otherwise it will be covered with hammer marks...

Ron!

After looking at your pics, you DO have some pretty tight radii on those doors! I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to get 1" T-Molding 'round those corners, even with the modifications my pics will show you. There is, however, a pretty darn good chance that 3/4" T-Molding just might make 'em with the same modifications. The best 3/4" T-Molding I know of comes from R.W. Johnson in Auburn, CA - www.teardroptrailers.net

Good Luck, and as always ...
