I am not sure if this the correct place to post this question, but hope you can help me out.

I plan to order a FlexRide axle and am confused as to what size I need.

Outside of frame- 60 inches
Wall will be on outside of frame. 3/4 inch plywood plus .040 aluminum on each side.

The wheel that I plan to use are 14 or 15 by 6 inches wide
The tires I plan to use are P205- 70 - R14

What do I need to specify, so that I do have to cut my plywood for the arm?

Do I need a special length spindel to clear the arm?

Don, if you can, mount up the tire and wheel, lay it face down and lay a something flat against the tire and measure from the mounting face of the wheel to that flat piece...now double it for each side and add it to the 60"s...now add 1.5"s for the walls and 2"s more for the wheel to side wall clearance...this will give you hub face to hub face measurement...60+ 1.5 + 2 = 63.5"s + that wheel/tire measurment(X2)...when you order(doit by phone) explain all this to the sales person to make sure they are clear on what you want...you might also want to add 1" to the overall hub face to hub face measurement just because but don't add anymore than that or covering the tires with fenders may become a problem...there, that oughtta be clear as mud now

Sounds similar to my setup except I used 1in walls and 175/75-14, I ordered a 74in wide axle. I think you could get away with a 72in or 73in because I have a lot of space between my sidewall and tire (2in)

Don, In addition to Madjack's information consider: The flexride swing arm is 6.06" from the hub face to the inside of the swing arm. So, 60" body + 1.580" for both sides + 12.12" for swing arms = 73.7". Therefore, to be on the safe side, 75" hub face to hub face dimension and then figure the tire clearance per Madjack.

I missed that you didn't want to notch the sidewall.

I used a Dexter axle so I don't know about the Flexiride spindle lengths.

I did find out that there is an option for short spindles on the Dexters. Of course, that was after I already had mine. I don't remember where I saw it though.

I guess to be safe I should get my wheels and tires first !
Then get the measurment Madjack described.

Don, The 205 tires will be about 8" wide. If you buy '0' (zero) offset wheels (offset is what Madjack was explaining) and an axle with a 75" track (hub face to hub face) you will have about 2 1/2" clearance between the body & the tire. 75" minus 8" (1/2 the tire width x 2) = 67" minus 62" (the body) = 5" divided by 2 = 2 1/2". That will give you an overall width of 83" outside of the tires. Two 11" fenders = 22" + 62" body =84". Clear as mud?

These are the wheels I am looking at .I better check to see what the offset is ?The hub section Looks closer to the front. At least that is the way the picture look.

If the wheel has a zero offset and I stick with the 205 tires that leaves me
with 2-1/2 of clearance from the body to the tire.What about the swing arm?Or am I just confused?

Don, Sorry. In this first post, I should have finished the calculation. 75" minus 73.7" = 1.3" divided by 2 = .65" clearance between the body & the inside of the swing arm. The add for that wheel doesn't mention offset. The wheel shown has a 'positive' offset. However, most wheels can be ordered with your choice. Check this thread. http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=7094

I don't know if this will help you but I bought a utility trailer parts kit from Champion trailers.com . It came with a 3500#axle,hubs,springs,fenders, shackles,a-frame coupler,jack, and lighting kit. All for $250.00.
