why my build goes slow....

I"ve been out there three or four mornings in a row, and yes gotten a few little things done. Called and found out the place that had the bendy plywood now tells me something different.

So Phil happened to call and we talked about a facing on the galley counter etc, he came down to pick up the formica and the two counter shelves (23" and 10" and both 5' long) and took them back to his place to cut and go ahead and adhere the formica and then router the front edge for me. I told him no hurry... it can wait til the weekend.


So that was at about 4:30 today.... then before I know it, it's 6;00 and he's at the door and says " want your countertops?"



Thank God for good handy, helpful neighbors!!!! It would've taken me all day !!!

Now I'm ready to put the interior skins on tomorrow and get this baby rollin!!!! (well, just an expression for now....)

The windows, they are the old type Jalousie windows with two panes that crank out. I got them from rickxr2 on this board, he lives 2 hours away near Tulsa, Oklahoma and got the last two from someone up there.
So Rick has his on his teardrop , and now me and Chris C have them too.

Sorry, I don't know where else you might get those. Try pm'ing rickxr2 and see if he can ask the guy where he might get them.

ahahhaaa Bev, thanks so much . I'll have some kind of updated pictures by the weekend, but it might not look like much. I actually started building March 17 this year, so I'm at the end of 4 months. Might be half way done. Who knows...I have to have this done by Sep 15 for the Grand Lake, OK campout but sooner would be nice!

Keep up the good work! I saw your windows, when I was over to rick's house. It helps even if all you can do is a little bit at a time, at least you are moving on it. I am having a litlle bit of a dead line to try to meet with mine. I am wanting to use it in a few weeks to go to Brooks Lake Wyoming. I hope to have it dryed in and primed on the outside to use it as a Cargo hauler, but if not ready we will be tenting on this trip. Also I hope to see some more pictures of yours.

Don't worry about it. The reason it took me so long was at first, I had motivation I had no money. Then later I had money, I lost my motivation.

I would hem and haw, and not want to do a particular operation. I'd do everything but that particular thing saving it for last. Then, when I finished it I thought to myself, "Hmm that wasn't so bad, why did I avoid it for so long."

The essence of Tear Drop Time is that dead lines come and dead lines go. My TD only took twice as long to build as I thought it would. The fact is you are building a very nice looking camper, how about some new pics?

Do you know how embarrassing it is running into people after months and months, and telling them that I'm STILL working on it?

Although I have the best excuse of ANYONE here...only being able to work on it at the boatyard a few hours on the weekend...it doesn't help me feel better at all.

Hang in there, it is looking great! I first purchased my HF trailer last Nov, been working ever since. Granted, not everyday (mostly weekends), and I have missed some time due to company travel, but as so many have already said, "TearDrop Time". Get it right the first time, no need to rush. I have set the Sep 15 as a goal from me to be completed, just in case I can drop in on you guys at the gathering, but, if not done, so be it.

You're doing a great job, Julie! Keep at it and you'll be camping before you know it! I just realized that we started our builds within a few days of each other. For some reason, it seems a lot longer than 4 months I still think it's fun, though, and hope you do, too.

Girl, you're doing great! Everyone on this forum is so helpful. People have asked me where I got my plans, and I tell them about this forum, that everything I need to know can be found here, and if it is not here( or I can't find it), I just ask.

I have signed up for the IRG which means I only have a couple of weeks to get my TT travel ready. I am only about 2 months behind my original goal!!! The good news: no stitches, no ER visits, no broken bones; just some minor scratches and really bad looking fingernails.
