Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hello all

Started on my teardrop this weekend after details from the house fire. I gota sheet of 5/8" plywood and drew it out jig sawed it out and sander it. now i'm covering the edges with formica for smooth routing..

Next to buy plywood to route out..

anyone ever use the birch plywood from Lowe's or home depot?

Good start!

I tried some 3/4 Birch from Lowes, and was dissapointed.
Could have been just a bad batch, but it had excessive voids and bad glue, as some portions, after being cut out, separated.
That said, I really didn't expect much from cheap 5 ply...

Very nice profile you have there. It sounds like you'll really be paying attention to detail on your build. (Something I forgot to do!) I hadn't heard of using laminate on the edge grain of a plywood pattern before, but I'm sure that you'll get excelent results and a perfectly smooth edge.

As far as the birch plywood goes, I used some from Home Depot. I didn't get the edge grain sealed up very well and after one season of using the trailer it started to delaminate. Right now I've torn apart the trailer and I'm rebuilding it with ACX grade plywood and making sure that all of the edge grain gets sealed and epoxied and covered and anything else to keep it from coming apart on me this time. Welcome Dennis. I used 11 ply birch from HD. I must have got a good batch it's very smooth and very few flaws. I sealed all edges with 4 coats of minwax so I think I'll be safe from water getting in.

I was worried about how to get my edges smooth when routing.
