Window clamp rings?? Where are you MadJack?

OK, I can usually figure things out without instructions after a few, er, several tries, but these clamp rings I got from RedNeck Trailer supply have got me stumped.
I bought my windows from Red Neck (15 x 24) following a lead MadJack offered and figured I'd better get these clamp rings as well "to ease the installation".
The guys at the parts counter at Red Neck were so confused they ordered another set, but they weren't much help when they came in. The pre-drilled screw holes seem to line up perfectly with the edges of the window, so if I screw the ring directly into the widow flange all the holes will be 'c' shaped, none biting into the flange entirely. I've never seen a clamp ring installed, so maybe I'm totally off track....

John, that is correct...the screws go into the little channel around the frame...I believe the same that the screens go into...use #6X1/2"self-tapping screws...we didn't like the clamp rings...they were kinda cheesy and did not pull the window up good and tight...so we tossed 'em, drilled a ring of holes in the outer flange and mounted it directly to the door with SS screws and sealant...worked well for us...these directions/suggestions came from TJTrailers...the folks we got the windows from...

Upon the sage advice of Mad Jack we did exactly the same thing ... very durable , actually fits better, and we left it exposed to several torrential rainstorms and no leaks !!!! .... and I feel very secure now .... about the windows anyway .... hahahaha

I did the same thing remembering that Madjack had to drill his windows. I di mount the rings on the inside the same way to finish off the window cutouts on the inside of the trailer. It doesn't look too bad and cleaned up the window cutouts. I used a neoprene stickon gasket for my windows and so far they seem to work ok. And I used samll screws (#6 I think) so as not to jump out at you.

John, also remember there are weep holes in the outer frame with rubber plugs in them...pull the plugs out of the bottom set of weep holes or water can gather in the frame and leak back into the trailer...

Thanks for the advice, it ALL sounds good, so I'll try everything.. I'm wondering if the left over butyl sealing tape from mounting my hatch would do the job of sealing the windows??

John, the butyl rubber tape is what the manufacturer recommends for sealing, when using the clamp ring...we just didn't like the clamp ring and the butyl tape, will usually hold the window out from the body.....oracle
