Correct. If someone uploads a huge 14 megapixel picture which is then scaled (but not resized) to fit the HOF box, your browser still has to download that huge picture before it can move on to the next one. Obviously we prefer smaller photos, i.e. 200 x 150 or even 640 x 480. But not everyone knows how to resize the picture. If someone knows of a really large photo like that, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
The other problem is that sometimes the photo websites that some folks use will slow down if the usage is high. This will also cause the HOF page to load slowly. There is nothing we can do about that, except suggest that folks upload their images to the forum gallery. Now that the server is faster, using the gallery should be painless!
