The Winter Warrior

Did you just design your very own teardrop or tiny trailer? Want to discuss it? Here's the place to post your design for discussion!

You could build up the side movable panels so that they are insulated... but then you ought to make the side walls thicker so that it appears balanced!

Mike has anyone built one of these. The design looks simple enough and do - able. I'm a new member with some construction/welding skills. I'm also an ex-AudoCad draftsman (12 years ago ). Never did much 3D work except in tech. school. Look to see if there is any feed back form builders on this design.

Thanks Madjack for the link to the gallery photos. Looks large enough inside to stand-up-in and table lowers to make a bed. The trailer built had rounded frontage ( lower drag but still high profile ??? ). It is not a Standard Tear Drop design. I'm still looking for the right combination. Four seasons Tear camping. As you might have guessed I work nights and need from time to time a quiet place to sleep during work days. Town gets noisy sometimes.

4 seasons camping might call for something like a tab with inside cooking...

I thought about that also; but like the little Sigg muili-fuel stove and folding table I have. A/C and heat ( can be hauled in tow vehl. ) would be nice when I will have shore power available. Planning Solar backup power ( nice flat surface or Unisolar flex panels $$$ ). But I'm back to adding weight and size again. I woulds like to have it so I can pull-it with a Neon or small Nissan Frontier ( four cyl. ) I have a full-size Ford pickup; but would like to be able to pull it with the others too. I might be outer limits it on the Neon 100lbs max. on hitch???

No I didn't sell the T@B yet... this isn't the right season... But once cabin fever starts building as spring draws closer, the buyer should surface!!!

I have a fairly detailed design of the Mike's Winter Warrior, although it's built as light as possible (hence the 'Light Warrior') and is in metric measurements - but replacing the measurements with inches wouldn't take long and I think it's still really an inch design.

The wall and seal construction is shown in this detail:

Image

That's a cut through the body side at the bottom edge of the moveable top (on the right side of each detail) and there are two versions, depending on whether the fixed wall goes double-thickness below the overlap or not.

Basic wall construction (fixed and moveable parts) is 1/4" outer ply + 3/4" framing/insulation + 1/8" inner ply with a 1/4" gap between the two parts.

Doesn't that winter warrior need a hole in the floor for ice fishing?

Thanks Andrew a very well thought out detail on weather proofing the slip joint. A old commercial roofing contractor I knew many years ago said "water will and can run up hill and to always double your break with a air gap (water will leach up hill behind two surfaces wicking action and add wind or pressure )".

Andrew a question about CAD software ( I know off subject ). Does TurboCAD the Deluxe V11 have plot to a H.P. plotter ability ( old HP7475A ) or to Just to inkjet printers. Don't have that extra $5,000 to spend. :-)

There is a reason I'm asking this; I can make full size patterns ( or a Screen projector will work borrowed from a friend ). This is to model full size drawing to look at in detail ( the old cut and paste routine ) sizes and feel for reference. I'm an old Arch. modeler in years past.

Turbocad uses the print drivers that are on your PC. So if you have a driver for that plotter installed, Turbocad can use it!
