This looked like a good place to add some pic’s of the real trailer… Almost 1 year latter  . What can I say “I’m stuck on Teardrop Time” ;) Any bets that I can get’r done before the end of the year.

DHAZARD,

I like your idea. I have been trying to figure out how to do something like this for a long time now for my second tear. In yours, you used the whole side wing, I was thinking of using only the top half of the wing so that the bottom half would stay intact to help support the galley and reduce the stress on the top wing hinge.
In your picture I can not see a hinge for the counter top, do you have a close up picture of that hinge?
For the wings did you use a stainless hinge for this?
One thing I haven't figured out yet is how to support the hatch with this set-up. On my current tear I used gas struts to support the hatch which attach to the upper wings. With this new set-up I cant do that. How are you going to support your hatch?
I would also really like to know how you attached the fold-out counter top to the wings? Thanks.

Best Regards,
Ron

Hi Ron,
The hinge for the countertop is a stainless steel piano hinge, the side hinge is from Grant at LilBear.

For now the hatch support it might just be a wood prop rod… but I might try and make a lift that would be hidden in the top of the cabinets. I have looked at a torsion spring setup from a cars trunk that might just work

Good Job on that one Dan...it's really different, and cutting edge design. This is what helps our little forum grow with ideas. There are always going to be bugs to work out, but I'm sure you can do it...Hey, even Henry Ford caught crap when he wanted to change the Model T....I have no doubt that you and Charlie will git-R-dun....  doug

Got some more work done on the trailer this weekend.
1 Made some finders.
2 Annealed some trim for the wings.
3 Put dead bolts latches on the wings.
4 Made a hatch.
A big thanks to Charlie for all of the help and the use of his toys and garage.

And a shot of me, with something that is starting to look like a trailer.

That’s Charlie’s garage, you will have to ask him. :) :MLAS

I like your trailer keep up the good work! I can relate to working on a TD for a year you can not rush quality! Is your little drop front drawer for a laptop?
:) :) :)
