leave the gas struts just as you have them. the hatch will be closed more than it's open, especially when not being used. the seals will sit in the oil and last much longer. you can see a depressed ring on the main tube, right above where the rod goes into it. that's where the seal is and it's captured in there.

Miriam C. wrote::applause: :applause:  Are we done yet????? :) Some great work there. Now you need to get the galley and inside beautified. 8) ;) I'd say it is campable though.

So many little things to still do though.

Today I painted some more and put the seal on the hatch, also ran the cabling from the hatch to the hitch and put the plug on, even the little things take a while. I ran it through the floor, some flexible cable covering, some electrical conduit and the tongue frame. Took a little while to get it done and looking nice.

Also got the old seal off the front window and caulked/screwed it into place for the final time. I think with the caulking rather than a seal it looks better as it has a much lower profile :)

Wired the number plate light, put the windows in for the last time :) and made a spacer for one of the Wrangler flares. I also started trimming the flare, took the front up to match the frame and will do the same for the rear and then add mudflaps.

This is my test flare I think I have some better ones for the final fit :) Took the pic with the XJ in the background to see how the colour matches. Not bad, it should look good.

Looking good, this is the time in a project like this that drives me crazy. It's a beautiful weekend out, should I take it out camping almost completed or stay home to work on it

I like the matching XJ flares. Can't wait for pictures of it's first trip.

They are 3 pieces of 7mm ply laminated together, I need to epoxy them, smooth them off and paint them black to match the flares. After that the spacers will be permanently attached to the trailer with the flares removable incase they get damaged, although they are very flexible.

Did some more. Trimmed around the roof hatch, it gets put in for good tomorrow. Did the flare spacers and numerous bits and pieces ready for rego. The interior should come up nice when it's finished, which will be done after rego.

Was going to take it for a quick test today but decided to take Bec (my wife) out to lunch and have a few beers so dragged it out of the garage this morning, put the roof hatch in and backed the Jeep up for it's first meeting with the finished exterior (still needs checkerplate but that will come later)
