Great design, excellent craftsmanship and ... WOW!!

I was searching Google for offroad trailers and happened upon this thread. I read through all 17 pages of it and joined the forum immediately there after; what a great resource! Figured this would be a great spot to log my first post until I had a chance to read through the board and build one of my own.

Once again great job and thanks for the thorough overview along the way.

Well I finally got one crucial part Have a look on the tailgate.



Now I can finally use it. Also started trimming the edges with aluminium angle.

Not yet, I've been sick or working I do have a 5 day trip booked in for September but hope to get a few weekenders in before then

No problems, registered as a caravan but I had a choice as it had no sleeping setup when I got the blue slip and that's the bit that made the difference. Funny thing is when I went to the RTA the paperwork just says type BX, which maybe box trailer???

The biggest hassle was getting it all done in the right order.

1. Inspection and get blue slip guy to organise VIN
2. Blue slip guy stamp vin on trailer
3. Get weighbridge ticket.
4. Take ticket to blueslip guy and get blueslip
5. Get vin plate stamp as per blueslip
6. Go for rego (take receipts of build so they can tax you on cost) They dont need to view it so take the minimum required to make the trailer
7. All Done Go back and finish it

what was the weight ????

430kg, but that was without the spare. All up I expect it to be around 530kg when ready to roll with spare and 100AH AGM battery. It's just missing a few cupboards now so the weight shouldn't go up to much.

Steve the Offroad camper looks great

Been doing work on the interior, not much else to post yet as it's been mostly framing and measuring etc Did get my LCD fold down screen today though (It's 9.2"), hooked it up to my battery and measured what it was drawing. Didn't show any drop in voltage and draws around 0.6 Amps. Anyway, here is a rather dodgy video of it from my still camera with the PS3 hooked up.

what are the angles on the sides?? You dimensions , are they to the longest points. I really like your design. Going to begin building something similar without a galley, I dont mind cooking outside. Do you think you could have fit a bunk for a 5 and 6 year old in there somehow with out your galley??

Easily fit a bunk without the galley if you shorten the bed to a double length instead of queen, that would allow one at floor level and one above it, or have them both in a wider bunk and have some storage underneath it. The measurements are to the shortest point, so the frame length is 2.7m, the angle at the front adds the room for the head end storage.

Not sure what the angles are on the sides, I'll check tonight in sketchup.

Oh, and with the galley I can fit cupboards that are 40cm deep above my feet, could easily go deeper though, the galley cupboards are 40cm as well so without the bulk head you could fit a 85cm wide bunk in there, at least the upper one, possibly 1.0m if you wanted.
