Doug,
I don't know how I missed this thread! Thats a cool design. I think windows like Andrews 2+2 would look good. How wide will it be?

thanks Bruce...it's going to be 4'6" wide and 6'6" sleeping length...10' OAL...and I gave a lot of thought to the portholes...but upon checking a lot of pics of Buck Rogers, and Flash Gordons space ships...they all had square or rectangular windows...think I might stay with that...cheaper...I can doctor up the window with some appropriatly colored vinyl and give the glass some radaii...maybe doctor it up with some faux vinyl rivits...hey at 65 Mph..it'll look great!! The '59 Cadillac lights are great, but they require a flat flush mount...they are hard to make look good unless you're doing some in depth moulding. If you check out some motorcycle lights and I think they're Buick Skylark lights from the early 60s, you can find some that look like rockets and will stand out to the side. They are hard, hard to find. Some other ideas...

Fornesto...the plan is on the Caddie lights to turn a front portion of the bullet on the lathe, with a recess in it for the light base...then mount it to a short wing like less than 6" wide with an aerodynamic profile to it... screws onto the side of the tear...relatively low...I like the T bird lights, but just don't have a flat place to put them and any body work for something that size might be hard to do so that it looks appropriate on this profile...Doug

Doug, I'm watching closely on this one. With all the great ideas and use of retro parts I think the "Rocketear" is the perfect name for your project.

Rich...the lights that I'm getting are already laid up with LED boards in them, ...not an 1157 conversion...should get lots of "Punch" out of the lights, I know I do on the Road Titan...they're killer!!!...and thanks Jim....making a trip up to Grant to get the fenders and skirts soon....the "Rocketear" will live.....Doug

Very cool Doug! Maybe you could get Jennifer Connelly to pull it. I just loved that movie!

I like this one for a tow rig for the "Rocketear".

Looks like the skirts you got from Grant for your fenders.

Jim...I picked up the tires and wheels yesterday...215 70R15's mounted up on a Pacer GM rally look, chrome slot with a center cap...it's going to take a little fender modification to get them stuffed under the glass...but I think they look cool....for me...tears give me the opportunity to do fun things with wheels that I always thought were good looking, but never had the ride for them...Doug
