Alfred I used 5'x5' Baltic Birch to get the height. It might make a lot of waste for you to use on cabinets.

Here is the final drawing (Courtesy of Mike S.) of my Modified Weekender for a Family of Five.

Maybe a little late, but why don't you use a roof like in the VolksWagen Carlifornia? When the kids are small, they can sleep in there, when they go out (sleeping in a tent), you take out the sleeping-area and have almost room to stand up. Just a thought

Hey Gang,

Given I will have one window in the front, one in each door, and now one other window in each side wall, where would be the best placement of the Fantastic Vent/Fan? I was planning on putting it in the front roof, more or less over the doors. Would this be the optimal location?

That's where I would put it. Past that peak and it would be blowing on the bunk bed and the bed under would not get much circulation. Just my opinion.

Hey Gang,

Posted this in the build journal, but I am going to post here in the design page, too. Finally - Here it is with the rails and a mock-up of the bunk (I want to redo the bunk in a hardwood) - But it is cool to see the concept in fruition!

The bunk slides forward to allow access to the galley/storage:

...Then the bunk slides back at night, when the kids are going to sleep on it. Allowing it to slide allows for a bigger bunk...

Here it is from the inside, when it is in the sleeping position
