Design challange

Postby bfree01 » Thu Aug 17, 2006 11:47 pm

I was wondering if anyone in the group that had cad experience would be willing to try and turn my ideas into a 3D image?
I am looking for a program to try myself but Know the learning curve will be long.

Some of the things I want are;
1. Camp Inn 550 profile (no 90deg. corners)
2. 5' wide 10' long
3. Tall enough (but not over 5') to have the door profiles of MJ's alligator tear
4. Deep tounge box with tophatch like Danny and Jane's Halfdome and the battery at the very front center to allow some storage accessable from the inside.
5. Window shaker mounted in the rear bulkhead vented under the trailer.
6. Galley design like Danny and Jane's Halfdome with the pull out outback oven and a pull out ice chest tray for one of the stainless colemans
7. Rear hatch that goes all the way down into the bottom radius.
8. A 20lb. propane bottle somewhere? tounge i guess
9. 15" tires fenders may be a challenge
10. Interior the only thing I'm very sure of here is a flip down dvd play & a fantastic vent
and now for the fun; a hinge in each galley side wall even with the rear of the bulkhead that would allow them to swing out 90 deg. and have a shelf or counter top that was attached to it. (would have to be slightly higher than the main counter) as it would need to be supported by a sidewall from the floor.
I may not know what I'm doing , but I'm slow!

Man did you bust his bubble!

He looked like a kid that had his candy stolen. :o

Nothing new under the sun I guess. These things have been around a long time and you can probably find something similar to what you invision somewhere.

Hi bfree01, I don’t think it is possible to come up with a “new” idea for a teardrop. I you try hard maybe an improvement on and old idea… I looked at all the pic’s I could find and found some with a swing open backs, others with tables that get mounted on the sides. I just combined the two ideas. Check out my album I will be adding some new pics today. Your design ideas are close to mine, I did square off the bottom corners to maximize the floor space. On thing to consider to open the back of the trailer up the wheels will have to be a little closer to the doors than most, to help on the center of gravity I mounted the Air conditioner in the front and made a cover for it and a small generator.
Good luck on your build.
Dan

Many miles and many tears. Times were hard but now they're changing.
You should know that I'm not afraid.
