Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hey guys, how's it going ?

I'm just looking for a few ideas for a nice little hooch. I have a couple of these M105 military trailers, and I'd like to make a camper out of one.
I would like to include the bed in the build, not just the frame.

I don't necessarily need a galley, but if you think of a good way, please post it ! I am going to need AC/Heat though, it gets real hot in La, and I'm a wimp in the winter

Don't worry about the size of it, I have a truck plenty big enough to pull it with

The inside of the bed is about 6'2 x 9 or so.

The trailers will be heavy, those things are overbuilt for a camper. That said, what is the objective, do you want a serious off-road trailer, how many people you want to sleep, how big do you want the bed(s), how much to you want to be able to stow, how far are you going to go, how long are you going to stay out... Really it could be as easy as throwing bed in, depends on you needs.

Welcome Frodo...gotta ask...does Uncle Sugar know you have those trailers or did you inherit from Bilbo ...we have a couple of members who have used those for a base...removed the body and stripped the frame of all extra steel and then built some serious off-road campers on them................

Sorry, I meant to post some better info, but I'm quite sick and work called so I got sidetracked

As far as being heavy, I'm quite ok with that, see my avatar, I got towing covered.

I need to be able to get in and out of some hairy places, so the heavy duty and high ground clearance is nice.

It will mostly be just me, but occassionaly my wife will come along. I'm going to build a much bigger camper with something else I will post for your viewing pleasure in a minute. But that is for longer trips with bigger plans etc, and not near ready to take on that project. This is mostly for a hooch at the deer camp.

Most trips will be around 3 days.

As far as my requirements go, here is what I need, and what would be nice.

NEEDS:
-Bed for 2 (or 2 beds)
-AC & Heat (Heat can be a portable)
-Storage for camp stove/basic cooking supplies
-water storage
-place to stash a potty
-interior/exterior lighting
-radio
-windows

WOULD BE NICE:
-Gally
-Refrigerator
-skylight/vent
-tv (for dvds only)
-probably more


Don't really expect you guys to lay out my whole camper for me, just want some input and people to bounce things off of.

I appreciate any help you guys can provide.

I'd really like to incorporate the body into the design.

Well, you have a tongue stand. Is there a rear stabilizer? Though with the weight of the tongue, I doubt you would need one.
Did you know the military had a fiberglass slide-in for these M105s? Or was it for the M101s? I can't find my information to the NSN and the TM for it. My local base had a few for auction several years ago. That is how I found out about them. They even had a set of steps that came to the ground for them when it was installed.

Have you looked into a military shelter to put into the trailer? The shelter could be dismantled inside and formulated to what you would like. The shelters vary in size, wall thickness, etc. for radio, communication, etc.

Do you really have to stick with the M105 foundation?

Yes, I'm not really fond of the shelters, especially the price.
I would like to stick with the 105 in whole, because although it will primarily be a deer hooch, it will also go to MV rallys.

Now Just hook up that rig to yer' trailer and git to LCG IV coming right up - no need to have it finished, just thow a cot in the back & a small heater - you'll get plenty of ideas. Get bg to hook ya' up
