Scale Model of Your Trailer

I'm too poor to start a new build right now, and I'm also lacking the time and space. So I think I'm going to do a scale model of my 5-wide trolley-top convertible idea.

Just wondering how many people have done scale models of their trailer before (or after) the actual build? If you did one, lets see some pictures. I know there's at least one or two out there!

Does this count !

OR maybe this ....

Building Eggbert was an almost no cost build except for the 40 x 48 HF frame and was a very good confidence builder for me. The frame was recently reused under the Chuck wagon build I am currently working on. (Stalled for $$$)

There were subtle profile changes but the final product was pretty close.

:D

The design process started here with Andrews help ......

Looks like his pictures are gone here is one I had in my album

I finally found Andrew's cleaned up drawing

I did a model of a trailer I never built.. does that count?

It was going to have canvas (or nylon ripstop) sides. I came into some extra money when I was ready to start and therefore built something more substantial.

   @ bobhenry

I was thinkin a little smaller.... maybe 1/12th scale (1"=1'-0")

But that dog trailer (?) is pretty sweet!

Paul thats a neat little design you were dreamin up! Would be interesting to see that built!

I gotta go to the hobby shop and scout out some materials. At 1/12 scale my 3/4" sidewalls and spars are only going to be 1/16" thick :?

That would be AWESOME to pull a giant alligator head behind your car and have it staring at the people behind you!

Now why didn't I think of that?

I may build that yet! It was designed to go on a small HF Trailer which I still have!!!!

Of course it would have to be green, and airbrushed!!

And you could applique a startled cartoon-ish fish, frantically swimming out of those jaws onto a blue canvas (representing the water in the background.)

Of course you'd have to wear this hat when you camped it.

I think the scale model idea is a great one. We've narrowed our design ideas down to three choices. Maybe building them in scale will help influence us.

Off to the hobby shop for balsa...

Here's a 1/25 scale model of my teardrop hooked to a model of the Sebring convertible we sometimes tow it with.
Image
I added a tongue box to the model after I did the same to the real one. The model is made of plywood and balsa with a frame made of plastic channel.

We built a model out of Balsa wood and old shirt boxes from Kohl's Department store. We included the model of us to get an idea of what the size would be.

We learned a lot building the model, but more building the real thing.

Here is a scale model of the trailer I am building. Do not know what the scale is, it is just what size would fit on the paper when I printed it out, but it is an accurate scaled version. I made this for the derby race at IRG.

Howdy, Yep, while gathering my building funds I’ve been working on a complete set of construction plans and a 1/12th scale model.

This was the layout for the frame that which has been altered a bit since. Built out of foamcore to the scale of 2â€

Heres my model. Scaled to fit the RC car similar design as my own car. The Tear is planned as a pop-up design (own tread), and this model was made with the functional pop-up. The pic is taken on a RC demonstration on a local meeting, after some fun driving after some rain showers, wet & dirty!

I am thinking of doing a scale model of Compass Rose and our Subaru to do some "wind tunnel" testing. What effect would having a wind fairing on the car or between the car and the trailer have...
