It's amazing how fast some messages get buried! Anyway, just to make it easier to find, here's the link to the Weekender page.

And today I put up the improvements page, you can see that here...

Mike...

P.S. Any other information you need to see on the Weekender? Just let me know...

I'm curious to know if anyone is ready to start building the Weekender? And if so, what stage are you at? Are you waiting on any specific information?

Later today I'm going to put a bunch of dimensioned drawings on my webpage. What else do you need to see right away? :?

Been thinking about building one myself.
It's a lot like the grasshopper I built. Which I found was really easy to build.

I'm interested in how you are going to cover all the corners.

Keep us posted.

OK got a suggestion,,,,build a frame,,sort of like a platform bed frame that will mount to a 5x8 standard utility trailer,,now mount the mock up on the frame,,this gets ya high enough to use the door etc,,,cut doors into the sides of the box/frame for under mock up storage,,now paint and camaflage the mock up,,walaa,,mock up weekender/hunting lodge to fit a standard utility trailer thats removable in the off season

the base should be level with the top rails of the trailer,,a few good metal loops mounted to the side and a few good ratchet straps and ya ready to go,,

hey its friday tha 13th what did ya expect

Chip,

So you're suggesting sorta like building a box under the body to store stuff in?

Mike,
The hatch and galley are wonderful. We put alot of work into ours getting it done, and it's far from perfect. Seems like a really easy setup. All the storage ideas are great too.

In the 4'x8' weekender, if one put the conventional footwell in, would there be room for a table and cushions? I'm not very good at understanding the plans.

And... the weight looks very good on the 4'x8'. Any idea what the trailer you're building will weigh in the end? How much more weight do you anticipate going bigger?

I was shocked at the weight our 4 x 8 Cubby. I still can't figure out where 820 pounds (near fully loaded) comes from.

Bev
P.S. Are you going with the hidden hitch?

Yes you can put the standard footwell in. It would end up looking like Rik's footwell.

As for the hitch, I asked for hidden hitch, and the guy said that it was owned by Drawtite, that it's just a brand name. I have no clue if it's right, but I'm familar with drawtite, so I said go ahead. It anyone has any warnings for me, better let me know before I drop the car off tomorrow after work!

Mike...

P.S. The weight of my 5x8? Hoping for 700 pounds before I load in my gear... but I've been wrong before.... I'll keep you posted!
