My FREE trailer for my Box Kite showed up

Postby Ron Dickey » Mon Feb 27, 2006 9:22 pm

it is time for me to barrow my friends digital camera.

It is old I will be getting new tires and wheels for it. No wiring no brakes. I will need to grind off the old paint and I may need to install a cross bar up front.

Oh it is an old Boat trailer
1960's maybe to big beams down the center crossing the axel and a small cross peace at the rear. It is 176 inchs long and I will be cutting about 3 feet off the tung. 4 ft wide tires will stick over. no tire finders.
it has small tires about a foot tall coil springs and tiny shockobsorbers.

I will have to remove all the boat stuff
the Beams are Ruffly 3 inches above the cross peace over the axle, so I will need to ad wood blocks or extentions to support the sleeper frame.

Anyway it is a start.
If I barrow the camera I will have to have something to show for it   ..... .... ;) .... I will have something by June and ready to pull north in July.

found a picture that looks a little like it same length, has 2 bars in center not round but 2 - 2x3 hollow metal beams with rollers in between them.

Looks like 1950's more then 60's except for the shock absobers and coil springs.

the one on top model 114

boxkite landing gear

coming along almost painted am getting ready to wire lights.

I may try and register the trailer with out the body on it so if it fails I can move forward and put the body in the truck bed.

I was reading in
http://td.roughwheelers.com/DMV/index.html

that it should get registered as a utility trailer anyway.

I am thinking of finding an old full size metal frame and bolting it on the body so I have better support for the main body.

I have pictures but am having troubles gettting them on Yahoo photo's
until then you will have to bare with me on photo's

I have worked to hard on the frame that the body has suffered but I keep peacing it in my head. With the doors cut out now I have to figure how to put them back on a gain. Cut with a 1/4 in bit so I can put rubber or such around door ways.

I will be attaching sides on soon.

trailer metal frame is painted

I have 12 in wheels for it. but I have to replace the hub it is a 4 and the tires are 5, a freind has an adapter so I will ok at that first.

I pulled the bearing to check and regrease or replace.

I am about to buy lights and wire it for break lights ans such.

I will mount cross beam at front to suport body.

and will take it in to DMV for plates then put on body.
