Does anyone have the price, per foot, of 2" x 3/16" thick angle iron? How about 2" x 1/8" angle iron?

Hey Mike,,thanks for breaking out the 4x8 so its easy to find, a couple of questions,,(1) how much drop do you have on the top roof section?? and (2) can the design program you are using calculate the dimensions of the side profile areas?? reason for asking is to see how when cutting out the exterior pieces, it runs out using a standard piece of plywood and how much is left over from a piece,,also if the dimensions were to the even inch or half inch it would make it really simpler for layout and cutting,,

By the way I really like the way the weekender has started to come together,,I believe ya got a winner there even though the a/c is low

I haven't optimized the dimensions yet. That was just the first draft so that Buford had something to shoot for, and something to think about after the power goes out after Frances hits...

I won't have anytime this weekend to optimize, but maybe next week.

P.S. I picked up 7 sheets of luan this morning, including 2 really nice pieces for the inside. I also picked up the 3/4" extruded polystyrene, and the shelf for the inside with the little baby spindles... I should have some photos for you later today...

New to the forum and i think i have the bug. Hey Mike on sep 04 you put up some demensions for the 4x8 on 81'' trailer and someone was looking for even demensions on those figures. I was wondering if you have gotten around to optomizing that drawing yet or have i just missed it.
Great little trailer,I think i will build one or two for hunting out of.
Thanks for all your time and effort Mike.

Hi Snuffy,

No I haven't done any more work on the 4x8 since I posted the picture on this thread.

Maybe if I have some time today I'll eyeball it again, and see what it needs.

Mike,

I missed that chassis, or didn't think enough about it. Do you have any details of how it's bolted together? It looks as though there's quite a few members added to provide a place to put bolts in.

But there is no information that it isn't worth having....

Andrew,

I made a model once, with all the bolts in it, but I lost the model when I reformatted my harddisk. :( I've never recreated it.

I can tell you though, that there's lots of bolts in it. 1 at every intersection, and several where the tongue connects to the frame.

This is a strong, robust, stand alone trailer, which you can use as is, or drop a teardrop on top of. I believe I built it up with 3/16" x2" angle.

If you want I can send you the parasolid. Or I can even send you a dxf file (gasp!!!).
