australia ~ any members here?

Postby frosty » Thu Jul 28, 2016 12:07 am

Hi everyone.

Was just wondering if we have any members from Australia, as I am chasing some local build knowledge.
Main query is for doors - lockable, split doors.
On searching, I come up with one place that is/was asking $750 EACH :?
Surely there has to be something better available when the same things in the States cost around $175 to 250 each.
Freight / postage can't be that much !!

any ideas???

cheers

frosty

How did you go with the doors?

I'm in Wollongong.

I found a Brisbane supplier, still dear but not $750

And the freight was cheap from Brisbane to the gong.

Craig.

Yep another Aussie I'm in Newcastle. When building mine I also thought the doors that were available were way too expensive so I made my own which was not too difficult. I used 15mm ply for the walls and a quarter inch bit in my router for the cut out and then the cut out itself became the doors and the quarter inch gap was perfect for clearance. I then made wiley windows for each door along with fly screens and all the hinges, locks etc I bought from Ovesco. I was going to upload some pics but the files are too big so I will have to figure out how to resize them and I will then post some.
Being so bloody good-looking does not automatically make me the expert on anything.

Been a while :)
I ended up getting the doors from Aussie Teardrop Campers ~ Reiner Gudd.
Excellent product and well worth the coin .
Split door type with crimsafe and lockable from both sides ( happy wife ! lol )
