Travel Gathering 2013 - Colorado Loop of the Lincoln Highway

Are you ready to do something different? This year is the CENTENNIAL Celebration of the Lincoln Highway.... (check out the link below for more specifics on it!!!!)
Join us for a nostalgic vacation along the Lincoln Highway Colorado Loop during the Centennial Year of that road.. This gathering is designed to allow time to Travel the original trace ( as near as possible ) of the Colorado Loop of the Lincoln Highway and visit what ever attraction catches your attention.
We will start at the Summit Rest Area on I-80 east of Laramie, WY on Monday June 24, 2013 at 9:00 AM. Following the old trace to Cheyenne, Wellington, Fort Collins, and two nights in the Loveland area to visit Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes
Wednesday thru Berthoud, Longmont, and Lafayette. To avoid traffic in down town Denver we will shift the route to the Greeley Branch of 1914 entering that trace at Henderson. Then to Greeley for overnight.
Thursday June 27 travel east to Orchard, Fort Morgan and camp at Brush city park.
Friday June 28 on to North Platte, NE for camping.
Saturday June 29 to Kearney, NE. This is the location of the Lincoln Highway Centennial Celebration ( the midway point between Boston and San Francisco MM 1733) http://www.lincolnhighwayassoc.org/
A few items of interest: The Lincoln Highway Memorial, Ames Monument,Tree in a Rock, unique shops, The Stanley Hotel, Museums, Period architecture, Wall Dog paintings, Model trains, Fur Trader Forts, Micro Breweries, flower gardens, Cabbage patches, buildings used in movies, Rainbow Bridge, Glen Millers Home town, Music in the park, onion fields, a carnival ride factory, Historic Fort Museum, Sam Bass train robbery site, Ole’s Big game Bar, Buffalo Bill’s Home and Scouts rest, a National Cemetery, and a large car show and parade of antiques cars.
Mark your calendar and save the dates. You do not have to sign up for the whole tour. Join in and leave on your schedule.
