50th ideas

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Here's a cute idea. I saw this at a wedding, but a 50th sounds like a great fit, too.

Get a nice looking blank notebook, or even just some index cards. Ask every guest at the dinner to write down a few sentences regarding a memory they have of the couple or the individuals, for the couple to read the next day.

It's touching and surprising what people remember about how that couple helped their friends in the past, or good times had years ago. (Or in this case, potentially decades ago)

When my parents had their 50th, many years ago, I found a multi-page happy anniversary card and taped fifty $1 coins to the pages. Paper dollar bills might have worked better....It was a little heavy....

There use to be a company that had all kinds of facts about every year. What houses and gas cost. What things were popular etc. Google may help you find that. In our family
(we use this for milestone birthdays too) we find funny pictures of the victims and blow them up. Then we post them around the room and let people write captions under them. It is an interactive "game" and gets people talking. Especially when there is a mixed group that may not know each other. It's a great way to get strangers talking. We also do a parody song to a favorite melody that everyone knows. For my fathers 75th Bday I did a video story of his life with pictures from his whole life set to a story. I made it look like a book with the pages turning and did a voice over to tell the story.
