Putting my threatening weather aside--chances of heavy rain nonstop since yesterday but it hasn't STARTED yet--I gotta get motivated here.
I don't know if it's the long time-frame of my build, my age, or the 12 Budweisers I had, but I accomplished NOTHING yesterday from home.
I just couldn't move my fat rear end away from the television at ALL. (Sorry Yurps--baseball, not soccer.) I think it's because of lack of sex, but my wife disagrees and won't help me with an experiment to test this theory.
Anyway, it's about 12:30PM now, I'm starting my second Bud, and I AM going to accomplish something today, come hell or high water.
First thing I'm going to do is put ALL of my power tools in the tool box in the bed of my truck. The lock on the box isn't all that secure, and having grown up in Brooklyn, I was born with a paranoia gene for getting robbed. However, enough is enough. It's a pain in the butt shlepping tools to and from the boatyard, I got stuff laying all around the house, so from now on, I'm taking my chances.
Next, I am going to tackle the "wood pile" in my backyard, the place protected under my eave where I've thrown all of my scrap pieces of lumber for the past year.
I've saved almost EVERYTHING, because as you know, you just NEVER know when you're gonna need a 1" square piece of 3/4" ply. (Sound familiar, guys?)
This pile is totally NUTS, and I'm going to make some major decisions and tie up stuff for disposal.
Next, instead of using marine rope to attach my crab buoys below the hatch, I decided on a rigid mounting structure. So, there have to be SOME sticks of lumber in that pile that I can use to accomplish this, right? As opposed to going out and spending MORE money on lumber?
If I get lucky with the wood, I'm gonna make that assembly.
Next, I'm going to get ready for disposal the 1.3 ounces of fluid left in each of 11 cans of varnish, stain and paint I have sitting out there.
Next, I am going to put in boxes all of my crab paraphenalia yet to be installed in The Crab:
Crab drawer knobs for the drawers I never built…crab dish towels, pot holders and cloth napkings…crab salt and pepper shakers…crab paper towel holder and mallets…Raul's steel crab for my tongue box…plus a hundred other things, and get it all out of the damn house, into the truck today, and over to the TD next week.
This may make my wife very happy, and maybe she'll later agree to the above mentioned experiment.
If I can accomplish all of the above, this will indeed be a major miracle. My wife is now watching England play Ecuador, she is later going to finish the last two curtains I need, and I am going to start smoking a new recipe for chicken wings later.
If I can get this all done today, I will post photos later. If not, I will post a photo of a Budweiser.
