Yay! Another Seinfeld fan!!! Anyway, what about a national Boycott Wal-Mart Day. I have been toying with the idea for some time. Maybe we could be the seed right here on the forum. Ya' think?

Yeah, a long way to get yet before we get there. But Tony, you missed one of my favorite intervening holidays - September 19, International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Anyhow, I expect someday to walk into a store on December 26th and see a big banner sign declaring "Only 364 Shopping Days Until Christmas" (and I wish I was only joking)!

They've been doing this forever:

You gotta remember that Wal-Mart basically INVENTED inventory control and ordering systems. They know exactly WHEN people have bought WHAT, and they adjust their floor stock/merchandising accordingly. They don't do ANYTHING by accident.

Also, a lot of it is stuff that has been sitting in their warehouses or back rooms since last year. And at their low prices, it's not like they had half-price sales once the season was over to deplete the stock.

I don't like it either, but this is Wal-Mart. And here's ANOTHER example of this:

Did you know that here in South Florida, you can hardly find BATHING SUITS at Wal-Mart in July and August? All of the seasonal items are pushed up a few months as far as their stock goes, and they figure that anyone who needs bathing suits for summer has already bought them by June.

Never mind the fact that down here, it's pretty much always summer.

I had never heard of that one before. But because I seem to be easily irritated at things, if they started selling ITLAPD novelties 4 months ahead of time, it would make me mad, tool. AAArrg, Matey!

Same thing happened to me last year when I needed a lawn mower in September. Could find one in the store.
Guess we should just stop mowing the lawn at the end of August.

I needed a warm jacket the other day. All the heavy ones were gone, and it is just fall. I should have bought that one I saw in June.

Can't change the christmas mess, but I sure can ignore it, and I do.

Sometimes I get to spend special time with my family, and that is what counts.

Wally World isn't the only one that does that, Lowes and HD are just as guilty. A couple of years ago I tried to buy some stove pipe in Nov. neither store carried it. I was told, "that's seasonal, we only selll it when the contractors are building". Get a grip, it's stove pipe commonly used in the winter months when you would actually use the wood burner that it is attached to. Of course the wood burners that you would need it for were on the floor right in front of me, imagine that! What idiots!!!

I know. It's sick, isn't it? Corpus usually has some of the cheapest gas in the country. But it is a horrible place to live--go away--stay home--we are all evil people! We have mosquitos! We have hurricanes! It is windy! It is humid! Stay away from our cheap gas!

And I'll start gritching when it goes back up to $2.25. If it is any consolation, diesel is still $2.75.
