Worrying about small wheels isn't new

While getting a drawing of a Mini from a book, I saw this and thought of all you guys worrying about the 8" and 12" wheels on your trailers:

This cartoon dates from the introduction in the early 1960s of the (original) Mini Cooper S which could top 100mph on its 10" wheels. The other car is a big Jaguar saloon (oops, 'sedan') of the period, as then driven by bank managers and lawyers - who would have disapproved of anyone passing them, never mind someone on 10" wheels.

My ride

Postby M B Hamilton » Thu Sep 21, 2006 4:14 pm

Andrew, This is my ride. 13" wheels, not the demon the Mini was.

When we were young and foolish we had a Spitfire 4, then a Mk. III. So, after getting old and foolish we decided to do it all over again (you can never replace too many u-joints).

This is actually three, or so, wrecked cars, spanning several years. All the mechanical bits and frame are GT6, the tin from a variety of Spitfires. And all three of the Triumphs were/are quite happy to slide around a bit on their 13" wheels.
