I'm not at all concerned about this--because I don't think their perception is going to match the reality.
We have to kind of momentarily separate the group from the Iraq discussion, because they didn't operate in the country UNTIL we went in.
I also don't think that the new Democratic control on Congress is going to do one thing to actually "weaken" us in any way terrorism-wise, despite the politicking that's gone on to make it seem that this is what's going to happen.
The point is, we have a whole bunch of conservative Democrats who are by no means soft on terrorism. And a ton of Republicans who want us out of Iraq, while maintaining our "strength" (whatever that actually means).
I'm real optimistic. I think we're going to see a level of cooperation between the two parties that we haven't seen in awhile, and I don't even think you're going to see many Republican "spoilers" trying to gum up the works and just make the Dems look bad.
But who the hell knows. Human nature is human nature. The Dems could wind up getting real arrogant with their majority, like I felt the Republicans did. Also, when you have issues like stem cell research and abortion, it's hard to achieve a meeting of the minds.
