With our news sources, we're all doomed

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Ira,
Men and Women are wired differently.
I think men, from being the hunters and gatherers for eons... are more in tune with geography and that sorta stuff. (Gotta find are way back)
Not all women, but some (And I'm sure some men too)... have troubles with that, even knowing which direction is which. (North, South, East and West...)

OH alright. There is just no defending some people. But if you say UK you really are talking about the United Kingdom and not England.

Perhaps it is malnutrition.

England, Scotland and Ireland--that's it.

This is the U.K. or Great Britain for the empire, and England just for England.

But even the EMPIRE is still the smallest land mass.

Ira,

I believe your credibility in this discussion just went out the window when you omitted Wales from your list of UK countries. ;) Maybe you oughtta join Soledad in her geography lessons?

Wales actually counts, Kevin?

I didn't know that was a country--I thought it was a proctorate, a territory, a commonwealth...that kind of thing.

And actually "Ireland" is not part of the UK. "Northern Ireland" is, but the rest of it is an independent republic. While the UK stuck with the Pound, Ireland went with the Euro. A pity - their money was really cool.

And yes, Ira, Wales is one of the four contries that comprise the UK - with England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are dependencies. Remaining territories include Bermuda, Gibraltar, Montserrat and Saint Helena.

Perhaps we should stop picking our news anchor folks for their "breast" factors.

All of this reminds me of the movie "Network".

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Ed Bradley. I really enjoyed him.
