Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I like maps and get them free from AAA: with a map and a compass mounted on my dashboard (yeah, I'm geezin') I've never failed to find my way to where I'm going and back home again. But then, I don't wander of into the blank parts of the map where it says "Here there be dragons" the way Gage does...

I use maps to but my GPS also gives me gas stations resturants banks all kinds of info and phone numbers. Plus the it talks to me so I don't have to have someone in the vehicle telling me what road to go on or having to pull off to read the map. My wife didn't like me buying it but now uses it all the time.

There in lies the problem, when she tells me where to go we get lost. I don't like the idea of a box telling me where to go.
Of course other times she tells me to go places I already been... 8) 8) 8)

One time we missed the entrance to a park. I had no idea where we were so the wife was forced to fire up the laptop and GPS. Of course, it was the only time we were led astray. It sent us to an entrance that was no longer in use. But at least we were able to figure out where we were and find the real entrance.

On the way home from IRG, we were also able to call the casinos in Laughlin to make a room reservation. Laughlin wasn't even on our itenerary but since the rooms were so cheap (cheaper than a campground) we decided to stay. All the phone numbers were listed on the mapping software.

It's nice to have but not necssary. If using a handheld GPS, it's really handy to store the coordinates for the good fishing spots.

Yep, sometimes it's cheaper to get a hotel room than stay in the camp ground. Believe it or not.
