Ready to haul

Postby asianflava » Wed Jun 13, 2007 2:06 am

Installed the brake controller (thing in the center with the orange display) in the truck the other day. Finding the factory harness and running the wire took the longest, everything else was simple. I chose the P3 over the Prodigy mainly because I liked it's looks better. The Progidy is gray with big blue buttons on it.

For those interested. I got it at http://www.accessconnect.com for $127 on sale with free shipping. It also came with a $20 mail in rebate.

So Rock,
That's for the Airstream, not the tear, right?
Or did you put brakes on your tear?
California requires brakes if the trailer is over 1,500 lbs.
So I figured, no way would I need brakes.
But Hey... You and Mel have quitea few towing miles under your belt now.
So I'm wondering if all those miles prompted you to add brakes.

Yeah, an Airstream if we can ever come up with enough money.

The tear doesn't any brakes on it, it's still under 1500lbs when it's loaded down.

We towed it out to your place with Mel's 4-cyl and it did fine. The truck has 13.9in rotors with 4 piston calipers. Stopping the tear is not a problem.

The truck came with prewired so installing it was easy. The controller was on sale so I went ahead and got it. My neighbor has a 16ft trailer that I mat have to use sometime. It's almost like the neighborhood trailer because everybody uses it. My other neighbor used to rent a mini track-hoe, he didn't have brakes and got kinda nervous. He used my other neoghbor's (the guy who owns the trailer) dually to haul it back to the rental place.
