1) Push the start button and the tumbler starts to turn and the blower comes on.

2) The ignitor comes on, the burner ignites and starts to make heat.

3) The flame stays on for about 30-45 seconds and peters out, never to come on again until it's turned off and cools off.

I would say it's the thermostat but there are two of them, one down in the duct work of the dryer and a "safety" thermostat located in the drum area. Any ideas? Am I pi$$ing in the wind on the thermostat idea?

4) Hang clothes outside.

Seriously, check this sight,http://www.repairclinic.com/0070.asp, they might have a schematic that identifies the sensors.

Hey, PA TD. I'm wondering if the dryer gas valve(s) coils are bad. I have them out and wonder what kind of ohmage each should have?

I started it up tonight and watched the ignitor come on, the gas ignite and it ran for about two minutes with heat so I shut it off and put some clothes in the tumbler......... it hasn't lit since, ignitor is still lighting though.

Jeff our dryer is a Kenmore but Mike went to an appliance repair guy and got both for $27. He said to replace both at the same time. Said he would have answered but his puter isn't allowed up this late. 8)

IT'S FIXED!!!!!!!!

Miriam, you called it!! A local repair guy called this morning and told me how to test the gas valve solenoid coils. I called the appliance parts store and they had the solenoids in stock ($15). Came home and put the both of the solenoids in, fired up the dryer and all is well.

Thanks PA TD and Scott for the the online helpers you came up with. I knew this place was better than Google!!
