 Heh, heh..... I smash all of them as I go along and put them into plastic trashbags. They stay in the shed out in the backyard til it's time to cash in  ...............

Get a wide mouth quart canning jar. Drop in a piece of banana, leave the lid off. Set the jar in the area where the gnats are. In a day or two when the banana starts to rot the gnats will go in the jar, they love rotten bananas. Quickly put on the lid. Don't leave the lid off for too many days, they breed like rabbits. Now use your imagination on how to get the gnats out of the jar.

When you hear things like this, you just gotta stand up and applaud this country:

Do you think they came up with this solution in PAKISTAN!?

Actually we came up with this idea back in the 60's, high school biology. When we studied genetics we bred fruit flies, close cousin to the gnat. And someone would always leave their lid off their jar of fruit flies. So now you have a class room full of fruit flies. Overnight we would leave a large jar with an over ripe banana in it. Next morning the fruit flies would be in the jar feasting on the banana. Problem solved.

For me it's justone weekend, and the kids are being shoved out the windows for lack of space.

But we don't redeem here.

A republican state, you know.

My wife's parents owned a beer bar on the Indian River (it's not really a river). When they were growing up, she and her brother and sister would get their spending money by turning in the cans.

 If you could export the cans to a state that redeems, think of the money.

I think I saw that in a Sienfeld episode once.

You have all missed the obvious, make your own beer and put it in kegs. A nice glass of beer beats a can any day and the cost is way less. I can make 10 gallons of beer for about $25.

And then you find a 2-3 gal keg and keep it cool in the fridge and never have more than half a glass of beer at a time, and again and again and again.
Been there and ended up wearing my beer around the waist. I made a few good beers especially around this time of the year when the Imperial Raspberry Stout got brewed. This is a high alch beer made using fresh raspberries and best enjoyed after dinner or over you ice cream. :R
You tend to forget about the gnats after a while.

Since it's in your shed...those stick strips work good too and they are environmentally compatible, except for the gnats. They are gross to me but like I said, if it's in your shed...???

Ira,
I lived in Florida for a couple of years. It seemed to me to be the most NON-Republican place I'd ever called home. Of course the only other two states I've lived in are Idaho and Utah. Utah only has two democrats and Idaho's few are kept up in a museum in Sun Valley. It's not a real place where people live and all... just a movie set where the false fronts aren't wasted on just the buildings.

Well, I used some of the ideas from the links you guys gave me and found one that worked. I put 1/2 cup of water in a glass dish, added a couple of Tbsp. of apple cider vinegar and then put a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid in and mixed around with my finger. Two days later and BAMMM!!! All the gnats were laying in the watery grave.

I still want to try the clear bags full of water to chase away flies. Sounds interesting to me.
