It's white, so maybe the fading issue ain't such a big deal.

You are a graphic artist, and never heard of Bestine? Back in the days of real "paste up", it was essential. It is basically rubber cement thinner, for removing excess Spray Mount. It also disolved the wax used in wax machines for paste up.

You can get it an most art supply stores.

If you use the chemical type stuff...put it on somewhere you can't see to make sure it doesn't react to the paint. Under the hood is always a good spot.

 Hair dryer works, wipe any residue with acetone (the active ingredient in nail polish remover) and wash with soap and water
if you're not bleeding you're not really working

WD 40 and then some rubbing compound if it is an old decal. Did it today as matter of fact.

decals & goo

Postby M B Hamilton » Thu Aug 02, 2007 7:22 am

Ira,

I have used a product from Eastwood called the Decal Eraser on a number of cars to remove everything from dealer info "brands" to graphics that offended me (big ones at that, the kind that cover half a door panel).

It takes it all off.

A quick coat of your favorite auto wax afterward and it is gone like it never existed.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the product.

I didn't do paste-up back then--but I checked all of the boards. I DO remember BAINBRIDGE though!!! And stat machines. And pica and e-gauges. And Haber rulers

Ahhhh--those were the days:

Those poor paste-up people having to manually cut and rerag paragraphs of text, word by word, just because one shmuck wanted to change the word "great" to "magnificent."
Here we go again!

My truck had velcro around the sides of the bed for an old cover. I pulled them off recently and used WD-40 and an old towel/rag to clean up the gum. Took a bit of rubbing but it all came off and didn't hurt the paint finish. The velcro had been on for about 10 years. I vote WD-40.
I cut it three times and it's still too short!!
Perfection is all I ask.......
