I was in Camping world on my way home, I was planning on camping in my tent in southern CA and along came a woman who asked if I would like to camp for free.

Sure I said and here I am....

I have to listen to a speal on joining .....

I am not all that excited about this place but might have at another.

But if I want there is lots todo ....

sleeping on the ground may be taking most of the fun out of it.

I should be home working on my trailer....

anyway.... I got an experience that I would not have had had I not dropped buy at Camping world.

So tell me Ron. Are you up here now? I only live about 10 miles or so from there. Are you spending the weekend at TT?

I have been offered that deal in Acton several times but I have not been able to free up a weekend. It is usually a three day deal so he should be leaving today. I am surprised he got in for a weekend in the summer, business must be slow.

Ron--I'm proud of you for saying this.

But it's "shpiel"or "shpeal."

That "h" is important in Yiddish. Makes it FUNNIER sounding!

Sorry Gage.... I did not check this thread until now I should have checked it before I left.

So where are you in relation to Acton, CA We went into Palmdale on sat. got lost in the maze of malls.

we did not join the starting price of 10,000 bucks was far out of reach for me that was for everything. 1000trails its sister grounds and camping in the cabins and the travel program.

they came down to around 6.500 bucks then just to only the california tt sites and it was a little less. then they came up with the 675 ayear keep it active clause That is equal to a new digital SLR digital camera a year with lens. We heard abot it from Camping world and they gave us the nights and a $50 giftcertificate for Camping World. We said NO and left with our Certificate and headed to Camping World.

Sorry we missed you.

I was glad I stayed at that one it seems to be very run down and in need of much updating. They keep buying new parks so I know they can afford to modernize it more or have more help there was trash on the river shores and dead fallen branches all over the place. The bathrooms seem clean and the Pools in good shape. And we did have a nice view. But if we had stayed at a real nice one we might have said ....NO we can not afford it rather then just NO.

We do come that way at times camping. my cousin is a Desert Rat Geologist. He specializes in Deep well water.

I don't think this will work well for teardrops but I have friend who full-time in an RV. They belong to TT and a couple other camp places and move from one to the other when needed. Most seem to have a maximum stay time but it could be a month. They have no mortgage or house payments so buying a couple of those memberships works for them.

Camp ground memberships...........look out! We bought into the Coast to Coast membership about 20 years ago, were promised all kinds of perks, most of which were outright lies! We took off in our motorhome and planned to do most of our overnight stays within the system. Of prime importance was the fact that even if the park was full, they "would always let us park our rig in the overflow, dry camping areas" BS, Lie, Lie, Lie.

We found most of the parks were 12 or 15 miles from the interstate, and driving over to them and back for one night would cost more for fuel than staying at a nearby interstate campground. Once in Florida, I was being turned away from "One of our membership campgrounds" because they had no more room. I told them at the gate that I could clearly see may sites not occupied, but was told that "those are not to be used by Coast to Coasters.

First they began charging 4 bucks for tickets to camp, then the price went up to 6 and then 8 bucks. Hey, when I bought my membership, it was supposed to be free, forever! I told them to jam it, cancelled my membership and I was threatened with lawsuits if I failed to make yearly dues payments. Goodby Coast to Coast, hello private camgrounds.

So, if you are considering joining up............think twice. They Lie.

Roly, remembering the good times camped in friends driveways, sideyards, pastures, patios and once in a while, full hook-up slabs overlooking the lake at their house. The best 6 years we ever enjoyed.
