Camp ground memberships...........look out! We bought into the Coast to Coast membership about 20 years ago, were promised all kinds of perks, most of which were outright lies! We took off in our motorhome and planned to do most of our overnight stays within the system. Of prime importance was the fact that even if the park was full, they "would always let us park our rig in the overflow, dry camping areas" BS, Lie, Lie, Lie.
We found most of the parks were 12 or 15 miles from the interstate, and driving over to them and back for one night would cost more for fuel than staying at a nearby interstate campground. Once in Florida, I was being turned away from "One of our membership campgrounds" because they had no more room. I told them at the gate that I could clearly see may sites not occupied, but was told that "those are not to be used by Coast to Coasters.
First they began charging 4 bucks for tickets to camp, then the price went up to 6 and then 8 bucks. Hey, when I bought my membership, it was supposed to be free, forever! I told them to jam it, cancelled my membership and I was threatened with lawsuits if I failed to make yearly dues payments. Goodby Coast to Coast, hello private camgrounds.
So, if you are considering joining up............think twice. They Lie.
Roly, remembering the good times camped in friends driveways, sideyards, pastures, patios and once in a while, full hook-up slabs overlooking the lake at their house. The best 6 years we ever enjoyed.
