Needless to say the collapse of the Bridge in Minneapolis has really affected us here in the Twin Cities Metro Area. The 24/7 media coverage does get to you after awhile. Yesterday listening to a local talk show we were all reminded of the past disasters here in Minnesota. Prior to television bringing tragedies to everyones living room within minutes after it happens, there have been numerous bad disasters here in Minnesota.
In 1883 a tornado a F5 (the strongest on the measuring scale) hit Rochester Minnesota. Apparently, over 200 people where killed and many more injured. The local nuns at the local church asked the brothers Mayo to start a hospital and today the brothers efforts to take care of the victims of the deadly tornado is the world class Mayo Clinic. It would be interesting to hear of other great things to come from such tragedies?
My prayer for all the victims is that something good like the Clinic will come from this mess.
