Arkansas couple welcomes 17th child

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Well, first, they certainly aren't paying any taxes unless he is making over 200k per year....

each kid while in school is costing the town (and other taxpayers) an average of $9k per year.. assuming, since they look young, they have at least 8 in school, that's $72,000 per year..... 17 kids x 12 (years in school) x $9,000 (cost per kid per year in school) = $1,836,000 dollars

If they even pay taxes on their house, if they own one, they probably pay less than $10k, so others are picking up $62,000 per year.

Of course, then you have free school lunches, maybe breakfasts... and the aforementioned food stamps, etc....

And, I'm betting one of those TV shows will build them a new house because theirs is so crowed... and people will send them money (seen that happen before), and they get interviewed on TV and may get a book deal and movie...

Maybe they will get a presidential medal when they hit 20...

Wow, that's quite a number of assumptions on your part about a family that you don't personally know. How about learning something about their personal and financial situations before making these comments. If I recall correctly, the kids are home schooled. Time to recaculate your figure of $1,836,000 dollars.

If I remeber correctly. My Grandmother had 18 kids but 2 of them died at birth. So I had 15 Aunts and Uncles on my Mom's side of the family.

Oh I am sure they didn't have food stamps or welfare back in those days.

You are right, they are home schooled.... I hope she washes those diapers and they don't wind up in the land fill..

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- It's a girl -- again -- for Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the parents of 17 children.

After Jennifer Danielle was born Thursday morning, her parents were talking about having more children.

"We'd love to have more," Michelle Duggar said, adding that the girls are outnumbered, seven to 10, in the family. "We love the ruffles and lace."

The family's home in the northwest Arkansas town of Tontitown includes dormitory-style bedrooms for the boys and girls, nine bathrooms, a commercial kitchen, four washing machines and four dryers.

The children are home-schooled by Michelle Duggar, 40. The oldest is 19 and the youngest, before Jennifer, is almost 2 years old. The family includes two sets of twins.

"We are just so grateful to God for another gift from Him," said Jim Bob Duggar, 42, a former state representative who sells real estate.

Among the "fun facts" on Discovery Health's Web page devoted to the Duggars:

the family has gone through about 90,000 diapers,

and Michelle Duggar has been pregnant for 126 months -- or 10.5 years -- of her life.
