The World is Flat--a brief history of the 21 century, by Thomas Friedman, is saying the same thing as the 'shift happens.' If you think of a connected population it really doesn't matter where you stand in that population, it could be China, it could be India, it could be Bermuda (as a flesh and blood creature I'd choose Bermuda). The advent of instant communications and high speed computer networks has been as great a technology breakthrough as moveable type.

As for computers overtaking humanity, particularly 4 sigma humans, the 1 in a million that is alluded to in shift happens, it all comes down to extrapolation of genius, and that extrapolation is something that computers at present are not capable of doing--maybe by 2050m but not today.

Now I not a pessimist, but it is quite possible that humans, including the Chinese or the Indians, may be obsolete in a hunnard or so years, and completely vestigial in a thousand, but it is not for us to make that decision.

Perhaps the best philosophy, in light of what has been said here may be summed up by "Let’s go Shopping."

Great video, Brick. China has more geniuses than we have people. Wow.

Not quite--1 sigma (Standard Benet IQ>120) is not a genius its gifted. A Genius is better than 2 sigma (SB IQ>140). That's about 5% of most standard populations.

The ones to watch out for are 4 sigma, by most testing methods their IQs are not measurable (>160) and they're the 1 in a million alluded to as worldbeaters in the video and "The World is Flat."

Yeah, it is kinda spooky... While, over here in the USA, we seem hell bent on importing droves of uneducated folks? Plus, we seem to have a population explosion going on with the least intelligent among us?

Good plan folks! :?

8) I have always thought it would be pretty neat to be around in 2050 (if you have enough income) but I'm also glad I don't have kids to worry about their future. The possibilites of really great things can be balanced by the possibilities of anarchy, famine, and global warming to name a few.

Would you believe I actually watched that entire movie??

That has to be right up there with worst shameless wastes of film out there.
Sad thing is it wasn't even really funny like I think it was intended to be.
I can see where what they were showing could be possible tho.
