I found a 1945 mercury dime embedded in the caked on dirt around one of the body mounting holes in a 62 corvette we had years ago. Sold the vette but I still have the dime. ;) 8)

Back in the 60's I got (still have) a 1909 VDB wheat back penny. If it only had an S on it I'd be looking at a $2K penny, it's only worth 5 bucks as a plain  . Danny

That dime may be worth it, I don't know.. but the grade is called "pocket change".. it is all beat to crap....

I just looked a 1916 S dime is worth 1.99.... so the D makes a huge difference.. and yes, I found others going for way bigger bucks than I would expect in that condition..

About 25 years ago i helped tear down an old town building.
I found an 1880 indian head penny in good shape up in the rafters.
I still have it.I think it's worth about 6 bucks. for that price i'll keep it.

Sounds like someone wants to talk you out of your penny. Danny

Back in the 80's I bought a bunch of old and NOS plumbing fixtures from Galinski Plumbing Co. in Jacksonville who was going out of business after many years. Mr. Galinski had held "Master Plumbers License #3" in Jax! I bought a couple trailer loads at a salvage price of $200. There was some really nice pieces in the lot including a few toilets with the wall hung tanks. A year of so later, while restoring a 1896 house, I decided to use some of the old fixtures. In one of the toilet tanks I found 4 coffee cans full of old silver coins. Later on when the Hunt Brothers ran up the price of silver to $50. I got over $1300. for the coins. ...turned out to be a pretty profitable junk haul!

 I did the same thing.. After 1967, I started to save any silver coins i got..When the price of silver went up I cashed them in.. Got about 750.00 for abot 100.00 in coins. Then I did something stupid and bought silver bars from the bank. Cost me about 250.00 .....now worth about 25.00...... expensive doorstops...
