Cobb Grill

Postby FireLion » Sun Apr 27, 2008 11:40 am

Anybody have and use a Cobb grill? What do you like or dilike about it? I've used mine several times and the charcoal never lasts as long as Cobb says it should. Now, I gotta decide whether to bring the Cobb or the Weber kettle (which I like very much) on my camping trips. Any tips for using a Cobb? :Flippin Burger:

There are a number of old threads on this but I like mine so well I will repeat myself, something I rarely do. :o

I have the older version, I used it so much some of the odd bits have broken and it sags to one side but.... It is a perfect small BBQ for a teardrop or my trailer. My favorite part is potatoes, baked potatoes. I get small potatoes from Trader Joe's that are a perfect fit. As soon as the fire start is going I drop my potatoes about the charcoal holder. It takes a while to cook potatoes and I don't mind if they end up with crunchy skins. I now have baked potatoes any time I BBQ. Some of the ads are misleading, there is a limited cooking surface and those have to be very small ears of corn and stuff they show off. But all I care about is a good baked tater with my meat.
I do some decent sized tri-tip roasts that turn out very well.
I have not, no do I plan to, try the wok thing they off but it should work fine. This is a small group BBQ, perfect for one or two.
I have seen pictures of salmon steaks done nicely but never tried them.

I am waiting to find a bargain on the new version on E-bay.

I have seen them several times at Tuesday Morning. I've thought about buying one, but never do.

I use my Weber Smokey Joe at home and for camping. The size is perfect for a couple of steaks, or some burgers and dogs -- basically good for cooking for a small group of people.

After cooking, you can use the hot coals to start a campfire, too.
