Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Florida, Camping, Gas

Postby Lynn Coleman » Sun May 18, 2008 10:10 pm

Hi all,

Well the summer heat has finally hit Florida. This means (for Paul & I) we won't be doing much camping until Fall. Heat and Humidity being a prime reason for not camping during the summer months.

Our other factor is gas prices. We could go north and had hoped to when we were building the Inkwell but with the price of gas going bonkers we've decided shorter trips are going to be the norm for a little while.

we'll probably do some overnights when we need to travel somewhere for business but basically we're home for the summer.

All of that is to say if you're looking for a place to camp in Florida and your pocket's are tighter because of gas prices, or if you're just plain ole frugal, I can offer you a free place to camp with water and electric in Keystone Heights. There is a week when we have kids running all around for Vacation Bible School but I don't have the dates on that yet.

What are you all doing to be frugal during this tight dollar stretching time?

Choosing to finish my house repairs. Boy the price of everything went up sky high.

We are still going camping too. Just not often or far.

After stalling at 399.9 for a few days (many pumps could not register higher and had to be 'fixed'), many are above the 4 dollar mark.

My trips around home are much better thought out, and my 50 mpg scooter is getting a lot more use. Bought for fun, it is now paying its way.

Next Feb, we will head from CT down south for warm weather and to visit friends, and this year, will still go to a few of the bigger sheep dog trials, but gas prices will definitely play a part in our decisions....
